You’ll see bright colors at makeup counters everywhere but once you apply them, they give you a fresh look without overpowering your face. Don’t be intimidated by what you see in the packaging because the new blush colors are quite sheer and subtle. You will be left with rosy cheeks without looking like a clown. Even a bright pink can give you a flushed look that is subtle at the same time, thanks to new formulas.

If you’re not into pink blushes, there are so many other flattering shades to choose from. From lilac to persimmon, you will surely find at least one blush shade that will work for you and your personal style. I tried different formulations, from powder to cream to liquid, and I felt they work for different skin types. Cream blushes tend to have a buildable formula and are best applied using a blush brush. They give a beautiful flush of color and there are so many shades that you will find at least one that flatters your skin tone.

Want to know that the best Spring blushes are? I tried so many! For me, the best blushes need to be blendable, long-lasting and offer different shades. I tried both drugstore and high end blushes so you find what works for your budget. Refresh your makeup look with a good blush and let me know how it goes!

Spring-Inspired Blushes

One of the first powder blush collections in the market to be inspired by Spring blooms was Clinique’s Cheek Pop. Each blush looks like a flower and the color looks very natural.  It has been around for YEARS and has developed quite a cult following.  My personal favorites are Peach Pop and Plum Pop, depending on my mood and outfit. Powder blushes are the easiest to apply since it’s easy to shake off excess product from a blush brush and the apply to the apples of your cheeks. They are also wonderful if you have oily skin.

Nars is another brand that has a wide variety of options for all skin tones. Its  “Orgasm” is already a staple in makeup bags across the world but you can also find other pink hues that don’t have any shimmer to them. Some pretty colors you can try: Desire and Amour. If you are super careful with ingredients, check out the new Nars talc-free blushes. Even though the brand is famous for its powder formulas, they do offer creams, sticks and liquids, too.

The Rare Beauty Blush collection recently grew with the new Soft Pinch Luminous Powder Blush, which is a little more shimmery than I usually prefer. However it is perfect for a soft glam look, especially if you want to save time and want the look of a blush and highlighter in one.

If you’re a fan of TikTok beauty creators, then for sure you have seen the Tower 28 blush everywhere. It is a cream and melts right into the skin, so it’s definitely a great option for spring time. My personal favorite cream blush is Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil, because it really is easy to blend and buildable. Cream formulas are very easy to apply with a brush or clean fingers. Plus, they can be used on the lips, too.

For those looking to combine the benefits of skincare ingredients in their makeup products, the Laura Geller Serum Blush Cheek Tint is a fabulous option. It comes with its own sponge applicator but I prefer to apply a dot of color and then blend with a brush or damp sponge. It looks super natural, has a great shade range, and does not settle into fine lines, which is a plus if you’re over 40, like me.

To avoid a clown-like appearance, remember that a little blush goes a long way. Also, if you feel pink looks too fake on you, try peachy hues.

Pro Tip: Start Light!

Smile and sweep powder blush on the apples of your cheeks. If using a liquid blush, apply a tiny dot on your upper cheekbone and blend with fingers or a synthetic brush. You can also use a damp sponge like a Beautyblender. In general, apply with a light hand because you can always add more.
